The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that English Hub support will extend from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Key Stage 3 for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Our expanded offer reflects our commitment to strengthening literacy across the full primary phase and into secondary. We will provide both tailored in-school support and sustained, high-quality professional development.
• Regular information and guidance on phonics, early reading, literacy, fluency and reading for pleasure.
• Support to schools to create an action plan for improving the teaching of phonics, early reading and developing language along with a love of reading.
• A literacy audit in eligible schools.
• Funding for training and resources, subject to the results of your audit
• Training delivered by experts to support teachers and schools to improve their literacy offer
• Up to six days of intensive support in-school from our Hub literacy specialists if selected to be a partner school.
Our tailored in-school support is designed to improve early reading, phonics, language development and literacy outcomes. What we focus on will depend on which Key Stage your are partnering with us for.
All Partner schools receive:
• A comprehensive early reading and literacy evaluation
• A bespoke action plan tailored to your school’s priorities
• Access to potential DfE funding (subject to eligibility)
• In-person coaching from experienced Literacy Specialists
• Ongoing support to implement sustainable improvements
The Great Heights English Hub runs a range of professional development and training events throughout the year.
Our professional development programme continues to grow and includes DfE approved core programmes across EYFS, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. These programmes are designed to build subject knowledge, secure fidelity to validated approaches, and drive measurable improvements in pupil outcomes.

Designed to strengthen literacy leadership, classroom practice and pupil outcomes across all phases, our CPD programmes combine expert input, practical implementation strategies and sustained professional learning.
